Match Review: Whitehill & Bordon FC 3-2 Overton Utd
Whitehill & Bordon FC battled to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Overton United on Saturday, with Ciaran Judd delivering an outstanding performance by scoring a memorable hat-trick. Despite weather disruptions forcing the fixture to be moved to Oakmoor School’s 3G pitch and following the earlier Liss Athletic vs. Locks Heath match, the team showcased their resilience and quality.
First Half
The game started energetically, with Whitehill & Bordon FC pressing high and creating early chances. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when Richie Hunter’s persistence won the ball back in a dangerous area. Richie slid a perfectly timed pass to Ciaran Judd, who found himself in space out wide. From a tight angle on the right, Ciaran delivered a precise strike to put the Stags ahead, 1-0.
Overton United responded with intensity, and Toby Sentch turned the game on its head with two quick goals, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Second Half
The Stags emerged from halftime determined to turn the tide. Their efforts paid off when Richie Hunter, again proving instrumental, whipped a great ball into the box despite a late challenge from an Overton defender. Ciaran rose above the defence and powered his header into the net to level the score at 2-2.
As the clock ticked down, Whitehill & Bordon pushed forward, looking for a winner. Their persistence was rewarded when Shayne Warren combined brilliantly with Toby Fuller in the build-up, creating space down the flank. Shayne’s pinpoint delivery found Ciaran unmarked at the back post, and he calmly slotted home to complete his hat-trick and secure the victory.
